What’s this all about?

I belong to several author groups on Facebook, and the other day, two different people in two different groups were asking questions about DIY formatting. One of them was attempting to learn since the guy who’d formatted her first book had raised his prices, and the other was a debut author with no clue what to do.

I started publishing at the age of seventeen, so I believe that everyone should be able to publish a book if they want to, no matter their budget. Though we’ve all heard about the importance of a quality cover and good editing, one expense people seem to give less consideration is formatting. It’s not rocket science, but it does take time to learn how to do it yourself–time many authors don’t really have to spare. The alternative is to hire a freelance formatter, but most of the ones I’ve seen (and there are only a handful) have a background in graphic design, and charge accordingly–and not everyone wants or can afford that. That’s where the idea for Athena Interior came from: a sort of middle ground between the rock and hard place many authors find themselves stuck in.

What do you get if you hire me to format your book? A clean, simple design that is readable and professional (with the option to add chapter headers that match your cover font, if you choose), a quick turnaround time, and a one-of-a-kind flexible pricing model. At Athena Interior, you set your own price, with minimal input from me. Pay whatever you’re able to, and I’ll deliver a high-quality product.

Now how does that sound?
